Brandon Novak is best known as a former professional skateboarder, the New York Times bestselling author of, "Dreamseller" and for his roles in record breaking box office movies.
He had achieved all of the things the average person attributes to dreams, success and happiness. In theory and on paper, he looked like an extremely successful individual.
However, things had become pure chaos behind the scenes. Brandon felt alone with his demons of lifelong addiction. After his thirteenth inpatient rehab, countless detoxes and outpatient programs, his mother was forced to accept the inevitable outcome, he would die. She bought his cemetery plot while family and business associates took out life insurance policies on him to cover losses and anticipated expenses.
Predictably, Brandon DID overdose. Fortunately, he was revived but spent 7 days on life support.
Once discharged from the hospital, he found himself homeless. He lost everything to his addiction and was left with 8 scarfs, 2 jackets, 3 pairs of socks, and a stick of deoderant that all fit into one bag, that doubled as his pillow.
Miraculously, through love, tireless support of loved ones and Brandon's grit determination, he finally got clean. After 20 years of struggle, he lives a life in recovery today. He is a national business developer for Banyan Treatment Centers and a highly sought after motivational speaker. Brandon travels the country sharing his story of recovery, both as a cautionary tale ...and a story of transformation.
Brandon will soon release his second book with 2 more in the works, as well as a first ever, addiction graphic novel and a documentary on his story, scheduled to premier at the Sundance and Con Film Festival.
But, of all of his life accomplishments, then and now, he is MOST proud of his recovery. He is finally clean... and FREE.
